His Excellency Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour and Social Development, congratulated the Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Sameer Abdulla Nass, and the Chamber’s Board Member, Ms. Sonya Mohamed Janahi, on her victory in gaining membership of the Governing Council of the International Labour Organization as an alternate member of the West Asian Business Group for the electoral cycle (2021–2024), with the unanimous consent of all members participating in the Employers’ Group elections. Humaidan considered that the representation of the business representatives on the ILO Board of Directors reflects the confidence of specialized international organizations and the international community in Bahraini competencies in various fields. He praised the fruitful efforts of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the ILO, and noted the support of the Chamber’s members, especially women who have proven their worth, to represent business owners in specialized organizations. It is also one of the fruits of the pioneering efforts sponsored by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women. In this context, he praised Ms. Janahi’s practical experience and effective participation in various relevant Arab and international forums, which qualified her to gain the confidence of business owners in West Asia to carry out the responsibility of representing them in this organization, wishing her further success in her new mission on the Governing Council of the International Labour Organization.
