The Ethiopian Consul Praises Bahrain's Efforts to Protect the Rights of Forigne Workers

His Excellency the Minister of Labour and Social Development, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, Mr Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, met on Sunday in his office with His Excellency Mr Jamal Bakr Abdullah, Consul General of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Kingdom of Bahrain. During the meeting, His Excellency briefed the Consul General on the Kingdom of Bahrain’s development experience, particularly in labour and social care, and the Kingdom’s commitment to national legislation aligned with international labour standards. He underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest. For his part, Consul General Jamal Bakr Abdullah praised the distinguished relations between the two friendly countries and affirmed his country’s keenness to deepen them and benefit from Bahrain’s successful experiences, especially in labour and social development. He commended the Kingdom’s efforts to advance labour legislation and safeguard human rights, as well as its recognised standing in combating human trafficking. He also noted the care and attention afforded to the Ethiopian community in Bahrain, reflecting the Government’s commitment to guaranteeing the labour, human, and health rights of expatriate workers.
