The Ministry of Labor and Social Development signs an agreement with Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo Company to build a comprehensive social center in the Capital Governorate

As part of the ongoing close cooperation between the public and private sectors to improve development services provided to citizens, His Excellency the Minister of Labour and Social Development, Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, and the Chairman of Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group, Mr. Khalid Mohamed Kanoo, signed a joint agreement under which the Group will finance the construction of a comprehensive social centre in the Capital Governorate under the name “Mubarak Kanoo Comprehensive Social Centre”. The Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning will directly supervise its implementation. The ceremony was held at the Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group’s headquarters in Manama, in the presence of the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Fawzi Ahmed Kanoo, Board Member, Mona Mubarak Kanoo, Undersecretary for Works Affairs, Engineer Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Khayyat, and a number of senior officials. The project aims to provide social and development services to all members of Bahraini society, while also promoting a spirit of social cohesion and solidarity through various social and development programmes and projects. It also aims to foster community partnerships with government, civil society, and private sectors to achieve sustainable development goals. On this occasion, His Excellency the Minister of Labour and Social Development praised the continuous and pioneering charitable and humanitarian contributions of Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group to implement development and welfare projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which aim to enhance the level of social protection, as well as improve the services provided to various segments and individuals of society. He pointed out the importance of combining national efforts to promote and establish the values of social solidarity, as stated in the general principles of the government programme. In this context, he appreciated the humanitarian role played by the private sector as partners in building and strengthening the comprehensive and sustainable development renaissance led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the great King of the country, may God protect and preserve him. Humaidan affirmed the Ministry of Labour and Social Development's commitment to continuing to advance comprehensive development through cooperation and coordination with various government, private, and civil society sectors to implement initiatives and projects relevant to the ministry's mandate, serving the interests of citizens and residents and achieving success for the Kingdom. For his part, Khalid Mohammed Kanoo, the dignitary, affirmed that Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo Group was keen to commemorate the memory of the late Mubarak Jassim Kanoo, may God have mercy on him, in recognition and appreciation of his contributions and distinguished role in the Group and in serving his community, his family and his country. He pointed out that this social centre is the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as it provides comprehensive and integrated social services. He emphasised the Group’s keenness to build a community partnership with government institutions in various fields, especially with the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, given the ministry’s social development initiatives and projects for various segments of Bahraini society, which reflect the directives of our wise leadership. Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group will cover the construction and furnishing costs, which amount to approximately one million Bahraini dinars, according to the approved specifications. The engineering designs for the project, which is being built on land owned by the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, with an area of 4,700 square metres, have been prepared. The Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning is implementing it. The building is scheduled to be constructed on three floors, including a celebration and events hall, a social day club for parental care, a section for productive families, and various sections for all social services, such as social research, family guidance services, and social assistance services, in addition to sections for childhood services, family services, and incubators for productive families.
