MLSD Minister Confirms the Cooperation with the National Institution for Human Rights

His Excellency Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, met in his office with Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights, and a number of the Institution’s Board of Commissioners. Humaidan congratulated the Chairman and members on the Royal trust embodied in His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s mandate appointing the new Board of Commissioners, wishing them every success in their national mission. He affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to continued cooperation with the Institution on labour and development affairs, praising its efforts to uphold human‑rights principles. During the meeting, ways to enhance cooperation and joint coordination between the Ministry of Labour and Social Development and the National Institution for Human Rights were discussed, in a way that contributes to strengthening efforts to protect the rights of citizens and residents and consolidating the comprehensive development approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the great King of the country, may God protect and preserve him. In this context, Decree‑Law No. (16) issued by His Majesty the King, may God protect and preserve him, amending some provisions of the Labour Law in the private sector and adding an article to the law stipulating ‘Discrimination in the wages between male and female workers in jobs of the same value shall be prohibited’, was appreciated, underscoring the Kingdom’s commitment to equality and non‑discrimination. Alderazi and the Board members commended the Ministry’s labour and development services delivered to all segments of society, stressing the importance of sustained cooperation to reinforce Bahrain’s leading human rights standing and to achieve shared national objectives that safeguard the rights of all.
