Preparing the Second National Report of the Kingdom of Bahrain on the rights of Disabilities Community

The Chairman of the Executive Office of the Supreme Committee for the Care of Persons with Disabilities, His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa, today chaired the Office’s third remote meeting, which all members attended. The session focused on priority issues affecting persons with disabilities, foremost among them the preparation of Bahrain’s second national report on the rights of persons with disabilities. the Supreme Committee also examined the mechanism for updating initiatives under the National Plan for the Strategy on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2021–2026). The Executive Office serves as the administrative and technical arm of the Supreme Committee for the Care of Persons with Disabilities. It was established at the Committee’s third session in May 2020 under Resolution No. 5 of 2020, which restructured the Supreme Committee to incorporate members with proven expertise from governmental, private‑sector and civil‑society bodies involved in disability affairs. Alongside the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, the Committee’s membership includes the Ministries of Foreign Affairs; Education; Housing; Health; Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning; the Supreme Council for Women; Information Affairs; the Civil Service Bureau; Youth and Sports Affairs; the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry; the National Institute for the Disabled; the Bahrain Paralympic Committee; the Bahrain Association for Parents and Friends of the Disabled; and the Bahrain Mobility International Centre.
