03-12-2019
The Ministry of Labour and Social Development celebrated Bahraini Women’s Day at the Ministry’s headquarters in Zayed City, in the presence of His Excellency the Minister, Mr Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, with the participation of Ministry officials and female employees. The programme featured activities recognising the role and competence of the Ministry’s female staff, meeting them to appreciate their dedication, performance of duties and tireless pursuit of excellence, and offering congratulations on this annual occasion. In his opening remarks, Humaidan affirmed that Bahraini Women’s Day is one of the initiatives of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the country's great King, may God protect and preserve him, and President of the Supreme Council for Women, to honour the achievements and contributions of Bahraini women. He noted that this year’s recognition focuses on higher education and future sciences, reflecting the civilisational accomplishments realised under the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty the King. His Excellency underscored that Bahraini women are exemplary at all levels and in all fields. He pointed out that the 2020 theme—women in higher education and future sciences—mirrors their advanced achievements, including serving as university presidents and deans, attaining higher academic degrees in university teaching and research, and holding membership in numerous international bodies and organisations. In parallel, the Ministry organised a series of Bahraini Women’s Day events across its affiliated centres in the Kingdom’s governorates. These included activities and lectures on higher education and future sciences, highlighting women’s achievements in these domains, their contributions to community development, and indicators of their progress across various sectors.
