MLSD Minister declares: More than six thousand vacancies are currently available at the Ministry
04-12-2019

His Excellency the Minister of Labour and Social Development, Mr Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, affirmed that the labour market in the Kingdom of Bahrain is recording growth in quality job opportunities for citizens, driven by government policies that empower the private sector as the primary generator of promising opportunities and make Bahrainis the preferred choice for employment, while sustaining an investment‑friendly work environment that attracts foreign capital and creates jobs. Vacancies registered with the Ministry of Labour and Social Development have increased by 35 per cent during the past period, reflecting the success of the Government’s strategy to bolster labour‑market strength and growth and to maintain unemployment within natural limits, thereby supporting the objectives of the National Employment Programme launched by His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, may God protect them. Humaidan noted that the total number of vacancies obtained through the Ministry’s Vacancy Bank since the beginning of 2019 reached 17,662 across all productive sectors, through which many registered job seekers were nominated and employed. He added that the number of remaining vacancies currently available in the Vacancy Bank stands at 6,659 in various specialisations and educational levels, after adding openings from entities that participated in the comprehensive Job Fair organised by the Ministry under the patronage of His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre from 1 to 2 December. The Minister explained that the vacancies presently available for job seekers include 19 positions for PhD holders, 22 for Master’s degree holders and 2,784 for Bachelor’s degree holders. Vacancies requiring a diploma qualification amount to 848, while 2,986 positions are available for holders of a high‑school diploma and below, with nomination of job seekers underway to fill them. Humaidan reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to continued and strengthened cooperation with private‑sector institutions as the engine of the national economy, through a range of incentives and initiatives that encourage and motivate employers. He expressed appreciation for the cooperation of business owners and private‑sector institutions and their commitment to integrating national workers into the labour market. He further confirmed the ongoing efforts to accelerate employment in the private sector and to utilise the job inventory in the Vacancy Bank to place job seekers—according to their specialisation and educational qualifications—in suitable roles. This will be achieved by enhancing recruitment mechanisms, including mass recruitment, general and specialised Job Fairs, wage support, and the provision of specialised, professionally skilled candidates for integration across private‑sector companies and institutions.
