Mr Sabah Salem Al Dosari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, affirmed that volunteer work is a hallmark of the future, grounded in the Gulf and Arab world’s longstanding tradition of charitable and voluntary service. This came during his meeting, in his office, with the Chairman of the Bahrain Society for Voluntary Work, Mr Abdulaziz Rashid Al-Sanadi, and the heads of the Gulf delegations participating in the 7th Future Social Volunteer Forum, which the Society is holding in co‑operation with the Princess Seetah bint Abdulaziz Foundation for Excellence in Social Work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the patronage of His Excellency Mr Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, from 15 to 18 January. The meeting reviewed the forum’s objectives, with the Kingdom of Morocco attending as the guest of honour. It also examined how the forum’s activities and programmes complement the role of social work institutions in training young people in the concept of social work and spreading the culture of volunteerism among our children. The Kingdom of Bahrain’s experience in supporting NGOs was also reviewed. On this occasion, Al Dosari highlighted the forum’s objectives, reaffirming the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support for all efforts by civil society organisations, particularly those of a charitable and voluntary nature. He further emphasised the Kingdom’s support for volunteer work, urging young people to engage in it, harness their energies, and identify the volunteer work needed by Gulf society.
