Within the framework of coordination among the relevant ministries and government bodies, and in implementation of the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, may God protect him, to support the business environment across productive sectors, integrate citizens into the private sector, and provide decent employment opportunities, His Excellency the Minister of Labour and Social Development, Mr Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, met with His Excellency the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed. The meeting aimed to provide all necessary governmental facilitations to companies and institutions operating in this promising sector, enabling them to carry out their tasks that enhance the economic and development process witnessed by the Kingdom during this prosperous era. The two sides also discussed ways to capitalise on the opportunities offered by the transportation and telecommunications sector, particularly in terms of creating job opportunities for citizens. In this context, Mr Humaidan stressed the importance of concerted efforts to strengthen economic and development sectors by supporting operating establishments, facilitating their operations, and removing obstacles to their growth, thereby supporting investment plans and attracting more companies that provide rewarding jobs for citizens. He expressed the Ministry of Labour and Social Development’s readiness to cooperate with and support establishments in the transportation and telecommunications sector, provide appropriate training opportunities in the fields required by the sector, and supply a trained national workforce. For his part, the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications affirmed that the sector is witnessing increasing growth in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in light of the esteemed Government’s interest in developing transportation infrastructure, providing more opportunities for business owners, and creating more decent jobs for citizens. He pointed to the expansions at Bahrain International Airport and the concomitant development of support services, which require the provision of qualified and trained workers. He stressed the importance of supporting establishments operating in this sector by the relevant government agencies, noting the facilities provided by the Ministry of Labour and Social Development to the private sector to enhance its leadership role in the national economy through full cooperation, foremost of which is the provision of trained national personnel. He affirmed that the sector’s growth generates national opportunities that attract national competencies.
