Al-Dosari confirms that work and training are among the most effective means of rehabilitating the convicts

His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, Mr Sabah Salem Al Dosari, discussed in his office at the Ministry with the Undersecretary for Justice Affairs at the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, Counsellor Wael Rashid Bouallai, ways to enhance co‑operation in providing rehabilitation and training programmes for those sentenced to alternative penalties. This comes in light of the Royal directives to strengthen governmental capabilities to enable the effective implementation of the Alternative Penalties Law, including increasing community service and intensifying training and rehabilitation programmes for convicts. In this context, Al Dosari affirmed the Ministry of Labour and Social Development’s readiness to co‑operate with the relevant entities to integrate those sentenced to alternative punishments into community service and to provide them with vocational training, based on the belief that work and training are among the most effective means of rehabilitating convicts and enhancing security and stability in society. For his part, Counsellor Bouallai expressed his appreciation for the Ministry of Labour and Social Development’s co‑operation and the provision of community‑service and rehabilitation programmes, which will support the efforts of law enforcement and other competent bodies to increase the number of rehabilitation programmes and activities undertaken by the Public Prosecution Office to implement the relevant judicial rulings.
