The Ministry of Labour and Social Development participated in the Bahrain Sports Day activities. Ministry officials, employees, and members of its affiliated centres across the country participated in a walking marathon, various sports competitions and games, free medical check-ups, traditional performances, and awareness-raising lectures. This initiative utilises sports to enhance health, cultural, and social standards, and promotes the concept of sports as a way of life for everyone in the Kingdom of Bahrain. To give practical effect to the objectives of Bahrain Sports Day, the Ministry organised on Tuesday, 12 February, sporting activities and programmes—including physical, mental, and awareness‑raising activities—in various locations, with the aim of providing everyone the opportunity to participate in Sports Day programmes across a number of facilities, arenas, and stadiums. On this occasion, His Excellency Jameel bin Mohammad Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour and Social Development, praised the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, may God protect him, to allocate 12 February as a half‑day for sports activities in celebration of the National Sports Day, to provide employees with the opportunity to participate in sporting events. He emphasised that these sound directives contribute to spreading the culture of sport across Bahraini society, to preserve individual health, and to promote a healthy society free from diseases. Humaidan also praised the call of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, National Security Advisor, and President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, to allocate a sports day in the second week of February every year as a national sports day for the Kingdom of Bahrain, based on the decision of the heads of the Olympic committees of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. He also praised the prominent role played by His Highness in supporting the youth and sports sector, which has been positively reflected in the Bahraini national teams and clubs that have achieved great accomplishments in various sports.
