Bahrain is keen to support federations and trade unions.. Humaidan meets the new Secretary General of the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions

His Excellency Jameel bin Mohammad Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour and Social Development and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, met with the new Secretary‑General of the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions, Mr Abdulqader Al Shehabi, in the presence of the Deputy Secretary‑General, Mr Hassan Abdulla Al Halwachi, today, Sunday, at his office at the Ministry. During the meeting, Humaidan congratulated Mr Al Shehabi on gaining the confidence of the representatives of trade unions and their constituents and his election as Secretary‑General of the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions. He expressed his aspiration to strengthen cooperation between the Ministry and the Federation in the coming period, striving to achieve further labour gains in this prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the country's great king, may God protect and preserve him, who has established the foundations of trade union work and is the primary supporter of trade union activity in the Kingdom of Bahrain. His Excellency the Minister affirmed that the esteemed government, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, and with the support and backing of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and First Deputy Prime Minister, may God protect and preserve them, is committed to supporting and facilitating the work of trade unions and federations as representatives of workers, who constitute one of the three most important production sectors and a key driver of development, progress and advancement in the country. He also emphasised the government's adoption of initiatives that provide decent work for citizens, ensuring that decent employment opportunities and worker stability are not affected by any economic developments or challenges. For his part, Al Shehabi commended the cooperation shown by the Ministry of Labour and Social Development with the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions and all trade union organisations, stressing that the Federation will strive to enhance joint work among the three production sectors and strengthen bridges of communication, trust and constructive dialogue to serve national issues, achieve the desired balance, and ensure the stability and development of the labour market, thus contributing to supporting economic growth in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
