MLSD Minister discusses with the American ambassador the strengthening of cooperation in the labor and development fields

His Excellency Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour and Social Development and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, received His Excellency Mr Justin Hicks Siberell, Ambassador of the United States of America to the Kingdom of Bahrain, today, Sunday, at his office at the Ministry. They discussed ways to support and enhance bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries, focusing on common interests in various fields, especially in the labour and development sectors, to serve the interests of both parties. They also reviewed the latest developments in the global economy. Humaidan emphasised the importance of exchanging expertise in developing labour and social protection systems, adding that the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain is continuously working to develop national legislation related to labour and development issues in a manner consistent with international labour conventions and standards, most notably those related to preserving workers' rights and trade union freedoms, providing decent work for citizens, ensuring a sound work environment, and increasing productivity. For his part, Ambassador Siberell highlighted the depth of the strong historical relations between the two countries and the importance of advancing them towards a broader horizon of joint work and coordination. He praised the Kingdom of Bahrain's advanced systems and legislation that guarantee workers' rights and protection in line with international standards, and commended the ongoing social dialogue between the various production parties in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
