Adopting the identity card for elderly instead of the “elderly services card” Temporarily
01-04-2020

As part of the Ministry of Labour and Social Development’s efforts to provide various services to senior citizens, including care, protection, and rehabilitation, and as part of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s precautionary measures to curb the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Ministry announces the temporary adoption of the ID card for senior citizens aged 60 and above, in lieu of the Elderly Services Card, which is issued by the Ministry at the Abdullah bin Yousef Fakhro Social Development Center in Isa Town, effective 29 March 2020. Accordingly, receipt of new applications for the Elderly Discount Card will be postponed until further notice. The Ministry has taken all necessary measures to ensure that this segment of citizens benefits from the Elderly Discount Card, including discounts from official and private entities that support it. The Ministry has allocated channels to respond to any enquiries in this regard, via telephone number 17103224, the toll‑free hotline 80008001, or email at Sameer.ali@mlsd.gov.bh.
