The Bahrain Society for the Care of Sickle Patients commends MLSD Minister's sponsorship to celebrate the International Day for Sickle-Anemia Patients

His Excellency the Minister of Labour and Social Development, Mr Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, met in his office with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Society for Sickle Cell Disease, Mr Zakaria Ibrahim Al Khadim. Al Khadim expressed the thanks and appreciation of the Society to the Minister for sponsoring the Society’s celebration of World Sickle Cell Day, which fell yesterday, Friday, 19 June, and for delivering his expressive speech, remotely, at the beginning of the ceremony held by the Society this year, under the slogan “Be”, via video call. During the meeting, the various activities undertaken by the Bahrain Society for the Care of Sickle Cell Patients were reviewed as part of its efforts to serve patients, particularly the facilities provided by the Ministry of Labour and Social Development to employ this segment of the population in private‑sector establishments and address their professional needs. In this context, Humaidan praised the humanitarian efforts undertaken by the Society through its follow‑up and care for sickle cell patients, and its continuous efforts, through coordination with the Ministry, to train and employ them and overcome all difficulties that hinder their integration into private‑sector establishments. He pointed out that the Ministry has made great strides in encouraging employers to attract this category of citizens to work, believing in their ability to perform job duties diligently and faithfully in various production sites whenever the appropriate conditions and work environment are available. For his part, Al Khadim commended the Ministry of Labour and Social Development’s support for the society’s efforts, which includes ensuring sickle cell patients receive the development services specifically designed for them. He noted in this context the Ministry’s support for the society’s projects and programmes, its backing of its participation in numerous Arab and international forums, and the Minister’s sponsorship of numerous events organised by the society.
