MLSD Minister: Transferring the amounts to the accounts of eligible citizens on August 15th

His Excellency the Minister of Labour and Social Development, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, confirmed that the August instalment of government support—totalling up to BHD 17 million—was transferred on 15 August to citizens registered for social‑assistance services. The payment covered social‑security assistance, the financial‑support (cost‑of‑living) allowance, the disability allowance and the housing allowance (rent) disbursed by the Ministry of Housing, in line with the unified disbursement schedule. Humaidan praised the Cabinet’s January 2020 decision to align the payment dates of five direct support programmes, noting that since the unified timetable took effect on 15 February 2020, beneficiaries have been able to receive all entitlements on the same day, making it easier to meet household commitments. The integrated information system underpinning the unified schedule links data from all direct support schemes and processes payments automatically on the fifteenth of each month, enhancing efficiency and ensuring funds reach eligible citizens without delay. Under the August disbursement, BHD 9,479,180 was allocated to 124,772 families receiving the financial support allowance. Social‑security assistance totalling BHD 1,607,430 reached 16,801 families and individuals, while BHD 1,227,700 was paid to 12,274 people with disabilities through the disability allowance. The Ministry of Housing transferred BHD 4,667,430 in housing allowances to 46,178 beneficiaries. The Minister stressed that all direct support is channelled exclusively to eligible citizens recorded on the relevant beneficiary lists. Since March, the Ministry has expanded electronic services—part of national health‑protection measures introduced to curb COVID‑19—so that applicants can communicate with social‑assistance specialists swiftly and safely.
