The Ministry of Labour and Social Development marked Bahrain Sports Day on Tuesday by organising remote educational activities titled “The Importance of Sports in Promoting Public Health and Boosting Productivity.” His Excellency the Minister of Labour and Social Development, Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, participated in the event, which is being held for the fifth consecutive year. In a video‑conference address to Ministry employees, Mr. Humaidan thanked His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, for ensuring that National Sports Day continues despite the global challenges posed by the Coronavirus (COVID‑19) pandemic. He praised the decision to adapt celebrations by holding activities remotely via advanced technical means, underscoring that regular physical activity fosters individual health, elevates morale and enhances workplace productivity—a reflection of Bahrain’s commitment to a healthy, progressive society. Mr. Humaidan encouraged employees to prioritise exercise, noting that maintaining physical fitness increases positive energy and efficiency at work; even under current health restrictions, individuals can devote time to activities such as walking or running. As part of the programme, the Ministry hosted Dr. Amal Al Jowder, Director of Membership Affairs & Quality of Life at the Bahrain Society for Training and Development, who delivered a remote lecture on the role of diverse sports in building a healthy body and preventing disease. She highlighted how regular activity boosts immunity, minimises injury risk and reduces complications from seasonal illnesses, outlining accessible sports that benefit families and society alike.
